toward a truly "New Economy"

As Cosmopolites, we embrace the development of a truly "New Economy". Such a "New Economy" ought to be globally cognizant of the protection of the Earth, as fundamental in targeted economic development. The concept of the 'New Economy' as it exists, is simply an "aesthetic modernization". The current 'New Economy' pivots on old basic practices manifested on a globalised scale. These apparent old basic practices are associated with the "conquering markets" via exploitative colonial expansion, in a drive for "mammon". In the pursuit of mammon, de-humanizing colonial institutions like slavery, for example, have either been reinforced in certain parts of the world, or have, instead slowly mutated into conditions of "wage slavery", under a regime of so-called "Economic Globalisation"

Replace GDP indices toward affirming the Quality-of-Life for all Canadians

Canada and other countries, have relied upon Gross Domestic Product (GDP) related indices, for both measuring economic development trends, and for developing government policies that will facilitate targeted economic growth in the future. GDP is a substantively flawed index, which mis-directs public policies into forms of economic development which continue to destroy Canada's vital natural heritage, and its delicate social fabric.

As Cosmopolites, we support a Canadian federal government leadership in the widespread acceptance of a rejuvenated set of 'Quality of Living' (QLI) based economic development indices in Canada, and internationally. The proposed 'QLI' index integrates the critical factoring of social and environmental costs in economic development. In contrast, social and environmental costs are totally ignored by GDP. However, as Cosmopolites, we recognize that, in the absence of responsible public policies, environmental and social costs will continue to worsen to catastrophic-levels. Mounting social and environmental costs, which continue to be substantively ignored by policy-makers, continue to threaten the quality of human survival. The initiation of a more enlightened approach to development, than GDP can motivate, is vital.

Human Rights centred and People-focused Development

As Cosmopolites, we embrace a truly "New Economy" in which the success of overall economic development is measured not merely by profit of the few, but by the achievement of a quality-of-living of all Canadians, in association with all of humanity. As Cosmopolites, we embrace the achievement of a "New Economy" which has the goal to eradicate de-humanizing poverty, which creates conditions of alienation, social malaise, environmental degradation, general civil strife, crime, and "terrorism".

As Cosmopolites, we embrace a "New Economy" which nurtures 'healthy communities' based upon affirming human rights, and universal access to the basic amenities of life for all people. As Cosmopolites, we embrace a "New Economy" which recognises that the judicious overall expenditure of resources in the context of "fiscal responsibility", is served by policies which factors in critical social and environmental costs, which in turn affect the quality-of-living.

Our Canadian cosmopolitanism embraces overall, a people-centred economic development inspired by a rejuvenated QLI index, that is beyond the anti-environmental materialistic scope of current practices associated with so-called "Economic Globalisation".

Our people-focused community economic development model is inspired by the new holistic area of Quantuum Economics. Indeed 'Quantuum Economics' rejuvenates the dysfunctional approaches of 'traditional economics'.

Let's focus on consciously creating a truly "New Economy" which treats each and every human participant as being entitled to a protected environment that nourishes all life in Canada, and on Earth, within a rejuvenated and enforced system of human rights.
